STEEL PASSION "RAGAZZON"

Ragazzon, situated in the North East of Italy near Treviso, was set up in the eighties by Enzo Ragazzon who, after acquiring great technical skills in the treatment of steel in the car and ship industries, started in the production of standardized reinforced exhaust silencers.

In the '90's the company started an exciting and fruitful research in the world of tuning and launched the first of a series of high performance sport silencers. In 1992, the first silencers, EEC type-approved by the Bavarian TÜV, made it possible for the company to become a success in the Italian market and to create growing interest in the European market as well as worldwide.

In 1998 Ragazzon produced the first duplex exhaust (two tails right and left) for the Fiat Punto GT, which was also tested and type-approved.

In the same year this model, absolute leader in its category, was presented to the Bologna Motor Show, the launching platform for the new Top Line then copiede not just by silencers' manufacturers, but also by the actual car makers themselves and fitted to economy cars.

Today the Top Line includes over 150 models and the company can offer, in addition, a large range of sport silencers made wholly of stainless steel, always in full compliance with ECC standards, and some racing lines group N, including type-approved catalytic converters FIA-CSAI

WE THEN SHAPE THE STEEL TO CREATE UNMATCHED PIECES

The production cycle starts in the factory warehouse where the raw material, "a great gift of nature" is selected with great care, to enter a transformation process that turns it into three main components, necessary for the development of the Evo LineTop Line and Utp ranges: pipes, silencers and tail pipes.

The first component: the inox aisi 304 linking steel pipes are first cut and then shaped and processed as required.

The second element, the silencing part is obtained from polished stainless steel aisi 304 strips to begin with, while for the inside, we use various Aisi 409 stainless steel perforated pipes. They are covered with heat resistent stainless steel wool and noise absorbent material to obtain a first-rate product. The silencer is then sealed with stainless steel aisi 304 lap-joints, which are wholly Tig (tungsten inert gas) welded, to ensure top resistance.

The third element is the tail pipe, the visible part protruding from the back of the car. We offer a large range of tail pipes of different design, created with the utmost exactness. The treatment of the inside part of the tail pipe is crucial. In fact its shape and taper ratio are crucial to the silencer's sound. Once the tail pipe is completed, it is polished until it looks like a mirror.

All components are then assembled to obtain a top quality, highly performing sport exhaust.

Lastly, a quality control check is done once again on the silencers before being stored in the warehouse as the finished product with Ragazzon's trademark engraved on it as a guarantee.

The H2 - Flow Line's production is different from previous ones inasmuch that it is produced with the state of the art “Hydroforming Technology” process. This technological product is created by using a single part of round inox steel pipe, worked in high-pressure sophisticated machines. The pipe is placed within a suitably shaped mould into which is then pumped fluid at high pressure. This pushes the metal against the mould's inner walls, thus giving shape to the silencer's outer body, all within preset dimensions and measurements.

LEADERS OF INNOVATION

The close cooperation between commercial staff and technical and production departments brings about an efficient swapping and a proper processing of information, crucial for anticipating market trends in order to bring onto the market cutting edge products.

Experts study carefully each single vehicle, diameter and thickness of the various stainless steel pipes, they calculate runs and curves to improve the flow of the exhaust gases so they can design the most appropriate silencer, by shape, size and manufacturing techniques, all to ensure the right sound without slowing down passing gases.

Once the first prototype is ready it is mounted on the car model, to test out the overall dimensions and fixing points and to ensure a straightforward assembly of the unit.

QUALITY, GUARANTEE AND RELIABILITY

To obtain EEC approval, the Ragazzon silencers undergo strict test run by the Transport Department Board. These tests are carried out in various stages, from system ageing on to back pressure and noise while driving and stopping

The procedure also requires the analysis of the condition and resistance of the materials used in manufacturing the silencer. Once the test are over successfully, the product quality is certified with an official EEC Approval, valid in all member states of the European Community, in Switzerland and in other countries outside the EC.

To install an approved silencer on a vehicle, you do not need to update the car's papers, as stated in Directive 70/157/EEC and following updates.

The Approval and test numbers, released by the Italian Ministry of Roads and Transports or by the German Transport Department Board and by the TÜV-KBA in Flensburg (Germany), are engraved on a tag on the silencer and are reported on a certificate, that comes with the purchased article.
